It's been quite a while since my last blog and a fair bit's happened since then. I've uploaded quite a number of renders from a 3D scene I've called Tavern, but more recently there's been a contest over on GameArtisans.org called Aftermath. For this contest, artists were required to create a character, environment, concept or high-polygon sculpt of something that you might find after some sort of disaster. Sometimes when you set out to do something big, something small can distract you and slow you down. If enough of them rack up, it can grind the big project to a screeching halt. This is one of those times. It's been 2 weeks since my last post and I can safely say this project has nearly been derailed thanks to mass distraction. I'm talking about late nights playing video games (both new and old), playing poker with my neighbors, watching TV and generally slacking off. So week 1 of the 6-month plan has come and gone, and I'm happy with how the project is progressing so far. I'll start with what I have to show... I searched through my old sketchbooks for anything I could use as concepts and references. I've already uploaded what I found to my Portfolio. But flipping through sketchbooks and scanning in pencil art wasn't all I did. My biggest achievement this week was establishing an asset list for each scene. I listed everything (and I really do mean everything) that would be in each scene, down to the last barrel or storage container.
